Mojtahed Shabestari as an initiator of religious intellectual’s hermeneutics has undertaken a main part in spreading such a discourse in Iran. As a result of his following postmodernist epistemology, a sort of relativism and deconstructionism appeared in his religious interpretations. The present article is to examine the claim that the religious intellectual’s hermeneutics is a philosophical discourse the method of which is not consistent with the Bible and scripture. The continuous use of new theories including hermeneutics has taken this sort of thought to dissolution and the logical and direct result of it is clear departure from holy Quran and Sunna and falling into a sort of secular discourse and hermeneutical relativism. The article will show that one can be both pluralist and protected from relativism, a position which Shabestari could not coherently adopt. In fact in his view relativism is not of a negative theme but a valuable accomplishment. This article is an attempt to criticize intellectual principles of Shabestari largely from his hermeneutical origin particularly in view of Gadamerian influence on his thought. By highlighting historical and temporal aspect of religion this religious neotheologian has confined it to the age of revelation and overlooked timeless capacities of faith. In addition he reduces revelation to the word of Prophet. The truth is that, however, one cannot undertake reinterpretation of scripture through Jacques Derrida without jeopardizing the entire reliability of its meaning

Metaethics deals with conceptual and propositional principles of ethics. It comprises four arguments: semantics of ethics, epistemology of ethics, ontology of ethics, and logical discussion. The most important part of semantic of ethics and analysis of moral concepts are those concepts used as predicate in ethical propositions and include obligation and value concepts, such as “good”, “bad”, “should” and “obligation” respectively. Existence of moral concepts propositions and their mode of being are all dealt with in ontology of ethics. Much work has been made on “moral obligation”. The present article, however, is to examine the viewpoint of professor Larijani who has taken a big step in explaining metaethical debates by distinguishing ontological considerations from semantic contemplations on “moral obligation”. His view on moral obligation is similar to the theory of G. E. Moor in “moral goodness”. Therefore he is semantically intuitionist and ontologically realist. But the problem is that he has not offered any valid proof for his claim. The only argument presented in favor of his view is appeal to conscience to which the opponent of this theory can also appeal

Facing the plurality of religions one might raise various questions on truth, salvation and moral principles as how to behave toward the followers of other religions. Responses given by scholars on faith to the questions can be categorized in three views of “exclusivism”, “inclusivism”, and “pluralism”. Theoretically and practically it is important to ascertain in this regard the view of Islam as last and universal religion. In this way the present article is to examine the ideas of Allama Tabatabae as one the most prominent philosophers and exegetes who based his views on one Quran as the holy scripture of Islam hence using descriptive –analytic method he is looking into the problem of pluralism from within the text i.e. scriptural perspective rather than philosophical approach. Having present an outline of rival theories in facing the plurality of faiths and the views adopted by Allama Tabatabae the author concludes that true faith from his viewpoint is identified with “submission and devotion to God” the Divine Way and primordial tradition which although is of one same nature, has been revealed in various forms of Sharias in the course of history in proportion to the development of human capacities from imperfection to perfection and from undifferentiating to differentiating. The present manifestation of true faith is confined to Muhammadan Sharia which is the last, most complete, and comprehensive of all divine Laws. This model of recognizing truth can be called “gradational-revealed pluralism”.in addition to followers of true faith of Islam, In Allama’s view, salvation can also embrace followers of other faiths in case of not being guilty

Debate on the motion of soul is a problem raised as result of reflection on views of previous philosophers. Although such philosophers as Avicenna and Mulla Sadra have not dedicated a separate argument to this problem, one can obtain their views by examining the implications of their philosophical principles. To Ibn Sina substantial motion as well as change in in incorporeal being is impossible, thus soul can be in change only in her accidents and material life though he did not reject purgatory perfection. Mulla Sadra by contrast maintain the theory of substantial motion nevertheless he is committed to the condition of materiality for possibility of any movement. In the first step the present article is an attempt to review on viewpoints of afore-mentioned philosophers and examine in the second step the exact point of controversy holding the substance of soul in motion and finally offer six possible ways based on capacities of transcendent theosophy in proof of soul movement after its separation from body

Since human being is incapable of observing the immaterial aspect of his own and other beings, he cannot properly know death which is in between material and immaterial and thus in need of someone who is dominant on both worlds. God has informed us of this event and its nature. In Shiite belief, holy Prophet and infallible Imams have also this noetic dominion. In his supplication Imam Sajjad makes use of terms about death which, taken methodically’ indicate its internal structure of motion. These include: “souls getting of bodies” “ return to God” “arrival” and “joining”. These terms are used for death of human beings not other animals. The main mover of this motion is God himself who commissions the angle of death to undertake the task by His Power and Command. In this short essay we are to prove the nature of death as a sort of movement by simply analyzing synonymous terms applying all components of movements to the event of death

This article is to study inbrief the cause of falling bodied and revolution of heavenly bodies and thendeals with famous theories in physics concerning general gravity. It isintended to show that although gravitational force is the oldest and earliestknown interaction that has been studied and scrutinized by both philosophersand scientists, its nature is yet to be discovered. The main objection that canbe made against general gravitation theory as the modern standard theory indescribing gravitation is that although it gives a proper description of geometricproperty of space-time, it provides little explanation on its nature. In ourview philosophy regards the cause and nature of gravitation mainly withinthings while physics attempts to find it from without. Therefore it isessential first to study the nature of mass through philosophicalaccomplishments rather than using purely empirical and mathematical view inexplaining the nature of things. Philosophers on the other hand should make useof scientific discoveries particularly new observations in order that they areable to reformulate their concepts and ideas deepening their understanding ofthe universe on the basis of both physics and philosophy and finally giving abetter account of gravity

Of novel topics in cultural milieu in modern world is disscussion of happiness as one of the human positive affection that has drawn attention in the intellctual setting after world war II concerning wellfare in positive spsychology. With the rise of new forms of spirituality and current of philosophy come the fore as the element of meaning fullness. The present article is intended to explain the proper relation of happiness with meaning fulness in the mirror of holy verses and hadiths adopting rational and narative method. Having discussed three different philosophical psychological and religious method, the article attempt to survey the relation between happiness and meaning with the folllowing results: Happness is composed of two dimensions of cognition and feeling. It can be defined in two levels of prelimenary and spiritual and hence of two praiseworthy and plameworthy divisions. According to Islam happiness is not an element of but subject to meaningfulness of life for in a supernaturalistic approach emphasis is put on two components of purpose and value. Prelimenary happiness is preamble to making life meaningful and spiritual happiness is a result of reaching the desired end and meaningfulness of life. The article concludes that Islam does not approve the accound made by various currents of psychology, Lamaism and intellectualism which hold happiness as an end and objective

The world of preexistence is one the most controversial subject in Quranic discussions over which exegetes, theologians and philosophers have much argued. Taken literally, holy verses of Quran as well as some hadiths clearly indicate that any man before coming into being in this world had an individual entity in the world of preexistence namely dhar. Some Muslim thinkers have not accepted this literal understanding of the scriptures and each of them attempted to make such verses and tradition plausible in their own way of interpretation. In their views, some objections are levelled against the literal meaning in that belief in such world of preexistence implies a sort of transmigration. However in view of the rational possibility of preexistent world as well as the fact that transmigration itself is not rationally impossible by nature, one can maintain that world of preexistence is a sort of transmigration which is possible and no difficulty arises from its realization
