The article is to draw close attention to some roots of impiety and then offer proper solutions for confrontation. The author attempts to give a conceptual explanation for piety and then refers to influence of intellectuality, extremist rationality and scientism, suggestion of false currents of spirituality and weakness of educational system as among the most important elements of impiety. In order to confront these threats, one should respectively explain the true piety and real image of faith by responding the doubts raised by intellectuals, explain properly the relation of reason and revelation as well as elucidate the role of science with respect to revealed message and principles of genuine spirituality, and finally promote the educational competencies in three individual, organizational and strategic levels.

“Right” is a philosophical concept abstracted from a relation between its possessor and desired purpose or appropriate objective. This concept means competency. Man is of two sorts of ontological and acquired dignity. The rights of a given man can be defined in accordance with the dignities he obtains. To commit a crime is to lose a degree of dignity. Therefore, punishing criminal even in the most severe way (capital punishment) is not incompatible with human dignity. According to Islamic teachings the task of ascertaining guilt and an appropriate punishment for it is solely reserved for God the Exalted.

The notion of salvation in faiths is mostly related to human salvation in hereafter, which deals with the question as who are to be saved from hell fire and who are to be allowed to enter Paradise. This otherworldly happiness is limited to the believers of one of these faiths or in larger scale others can also have a share in heavenly felicity. Traditionally the followers of each of revealed faiths have generally taken exclusivist approach to the question of salvation. People of these religions have each regarded the believers in their own faith as worthy of salvation and deemed believers in other faiths as doomed to be in hell. The present article is to review first the salvation from the perspective of Zoroastrians, Jews, Christians, and Muslims and then pay a due attention to the issue from Shiite school of thought. The method adopted is descriptive-analytic of the materials provided through searching in library books and documents.

The present article is an attempt to define the nature of philosophy of Fiqh and its relation with other similar such metadisciplenary studies as philosophy of religion and philosophy of religious knowledge. Philosophy of Fiqh as one of these metadisciplines is a rational and philosophical study of the science of Fiqh as one of the religious sciences dealing with religious knowledge and thus it is closely connected to philosophy of religious knowledge as one aspect of general philosophy of religion. Therefore it is essential to study relations of these “philosophies of” that can shed light on the status of each of them in the whole system of religious insight.
The comparative study can help us determine the sort of prevailing interrelations such as being general or particular, superstructure or infrastructure, productive etc. Although some of these sciences have underlying function in respect with their object of study other ones, they are dependent and based on other apparent metadisciplines. Our judgment on the expectations of these fields of study depends upon our appraisal of the role and status of each in the whole system of our knowledge. Failure to reach a right assessment of place can render metadisciplines to inadequate and abstract sciences without making any drastic change in the fields concerned.

Most of the Quranic arguments are implicit. For this reason one need to analyze the arguments in order to know the premises, major and minor terms and the mode of the argument used. Familiarity with modes and forms of Quranic arguments is particularly essential in identifying the occasions of demonstration and the embedded premises in the arguments. Like the treatment of the rational and verbal frames of argument, the study of the modes and styles of the statement is also related to the verbal forms of arguments and thus it is a formal discussion. As Quran is of highest degree of eloquence and articulacy, it is a perfect and excellent pattern in the use of the various styles of articulation to achieve different purposes and so it can be used as an inspiring source of reinterpretation of a variety of styles used in the arguments. Accordingly the present article is to survey the most common Quranic styles and forms of used in favor of or against a position taken in midst of holy verses.

Freedom is one of the most important human values, which has been in the center of controversies of thinkers including martyr Mutahhari whose thought has had a great influence in shaping contemporary Islamic culture. Sartre on the other hand is among contemporary existentialist thinkers whose works had great impact on many intellectual domains. Given that both thinkers have been deeply interested in human existence, it is especially important to consider their views on the question of freedom and their common and different apects of proplem. Using the descriptive-analytic method the authors attempt to review materials found in the works of both thinkers. The research led to conclusion that both them emphasize on the freedom as human value and a ground for responsibility. However, there are also many fundamental differences in their views. For instance, Sartre is the only human value and intrinsic perfection that is in conflict with the existence of God and of other values. Such view on freedom separates human from the reality of himself, of the Origin and the Return and picture human as utterly autonomous in all his affairs while he has no dependence upon any principle or law. Freedom in the eyes of Mutahhari, by contrast, makes sense only in relation to the efficient and final causes of man. According to Mutahhari any devotion to and dependence upon anything other than God, the Exalted, is in conflict with freedom. Real and true freedom comes only through dependence upon and devotion to God who is source of all existence and values. In his view, without God who is the Ground of such values as freedom and justice, humanity and related values lose their proper meanings.

Bodily resurrection is among the most prominent doctrinal and philosophical problems which was rationally demonstrated by Mulla Sadra. Having considered the revealed proofs in question Mulla Sadra his version of bodily resurrection is “literally” the same as articulated in sacred Sharia the denial of which is regarded as a ground for disbelief and excommunication. The original thinker Zenoozi, by contrast, disagrees with Sadra’s version and tries to demonstrate bodily resurrection in accordance with reason and revelation. He based his argument on a hadith from Imam Sadeq (A.S.) in Tabarsi’s Ehtejaj. The present article is an attempt to assess Zenoozi’s view and arguments and make a judgment on rival versions of bodily resurrection presented by these two great thinkers.

A Critique on implications of Arguments for Substantial Motion as Applying to All Corporeal Substances

Having established the theory of substantial motion Mulla Sadra attempts to argue for movements in all corporeal substances. Many of his philosophical views are based on this principle of continuous flux in world substances. Arguments for substantial movement, however, are of two divisions. The first are proofs that demonstrate the motion in all corporeal substances, which is to be briefly dealt with and criticized. The second group shows only that in addition to accidental change the substance of things is subject to some specific changes. Some of these arguments are endorsed but others fail to demonstrate the point in question. For substantial movement occurs only when external agent is involved and there is no reason for steadily essential change in the very substance of entities. This sort of change is not to be interpreted as establishing the so-called subsatantial movement. This is but a new understanding of what had already been justified as the theory of generation and corruption.

Love of God in Existential Layers of Human Beings, Reinterpretation of Covenant Verse

Diffusion of Divine love in existential layers of mankind is a truth testified by the holy verse of Covenant. The verse is an analogy, nor as statement of confession of human reason to the Unity of God, nor as an account of event that took place in the realm of spirit. Rather this verse is an indication of inner state of each man whose existential needle is directed to God, though rusts of sins may prevent realization of this spiritual innate journey.
Having provided conceptual analysis for primordial nature and explanation of rival theories, the present article is to present a new interpretation of the Covenant verse and formulation of the truth in question.
