Abstract

Among the arguments foe the existence of God in Islamic philosophy are some non-famous proofs that are valid but less known and less interested philosophers. One of these arguments is that from human soul in which some qualities and states of soul are examined to prove the existence of God. Mulla Sdara explicitly takes it as an independent argument for Necessary Being. It has been formulated in four different ways by Sadra and some of his followers: the cause of soul movement, temporal creation of soul, the final cause of soul movement, and the motion of the celestial souls. This argument is not be found in Muslim Peripatetic philosophers as a separate proof. Some Illuminationist philosophers however made reference to some versions of it. Inspired by his predecessors and based on his own principles including substantial motion of human soul, Mulla Sadra has formulated this argument for the existence of God. In his view the wayfarer and wayfaring are one and the same. This is the prerogative of the argument which makes it distinct from other arguments except that the Truthful. While intuitive self-knowledge results in esoteric vision of God, speculative knowledge of human soul and its scrutiny is a means by which man can attain the knowledge of God.
