Abstract

The notion of salvation in faiths is mostly related to human salvation in hereafter, which deals with the question as who are to be saved from hell fire and who are to be allowed to enter Paradise. This otherworldly happiness is limited to the believers of one of these faiths or in larger scale others can also have a share in heavenly felicity. Traditionally the followers of each of revealed faiths have generally taken exclusivist approach to the question of salvation. People of these religions have each regarded the believers in their own faith as worthy of salvation and deemed believers in other faiths as doomed to be in hell.
The present article is to review first the salvation from the perspective of Zoroastrians, Jews, Christians, and Muslims and then pay a due attention to the issue from Shiite school of thought. The method adopted is descriptive-analytic of the materials provided through searching in library books and documents.
