Abstract

In this article, the words of prophecy and prophet and pertaining definitions given in theology, philosophy and terminology are expressed and compared. The definitions are also compared with those given in Christianity, Hinduism and Buddha, and the most reasonable one has been determined and supported. The best meaning for the word of the prophet is the same as the Persian equivalent payambar or peyghambar. Accordingly, the best definition of the prophet is: a human being prompted by God to mediate between him and the servants in order to reveal His message or Divine messages to guide them. On this basis, prophecy means mediation between God and creation to convey the Divine message to the people

تعالج هذه المقالة کلمات النبی و النبوة و تعاریفهما من منظور المتکلمین، الحکما، و اللغویین، و تقوم ببیانها و مقارنتها مع العقیدة المسیحیة، الهندوئة و البوذیة و تدافع عن أحسن التعاریف.
وافضل معنى لکلمة النبی ما یعادله فی الفارسیة بحامل النباْ وعلى هذا الأساس افضل تعریف للنبی هو بشر مبعوث من جانب الله، لیکون وسیطاً بینه و بین خلقه، حتى یوحى إلیه الخبر او الرسالة الإلیه الیه و یبلغه الناس.
واذن النبوة هی الوساطة بین الرب والخلق لإیصال الرسالة الإلهیة للناس
