Mulla Sadra`s View on Practical Reason and Studying It on the Basis of Quranic and Traditional Teacings

Abstract

Main issue of this study may presented as: How much does Mulla Sadra's perspective on practical reason match with the Quranic verses and narratives? Therefore, this research studies two important questions: the what of Mulla Sadra's perspective on practical reason and what understandable from the Qur'an and hadith in the field. As made clear in the paper, according to religious teachings, reason has a scientific and perceptual function, and a practical and provocative function. On the contrary, some Islamic philosophers have considered the function of practical reason as perceiving affairs related to human action, and have not viewed any distinction between practical reason and theoretical reason with regard to perception, while others have viewed the function of practical reason as action and motivation different from that of the theoretical reason. Mulla Sadra's words in the field agree with both views, but somewhat different from what said of practical function of reason in religious teachings. The purpose in the paper lies in analyzing the words of Mulla Sadra in comparison to religious teachings of the field; therefore, the method of the study is analytical descriptive along with commenting the text of the verses and narrations
