More often it is stated that ethics in Islamic philosophers’ view is virtue ethics. The present study attempts to show that in Mulla Sadra it is an existential one which has extent to include both speculative and practical intellect. For in his view the epistemic components are the same moral ingredients regarded as ontological principles. Man becomes moral in proportion to the extent of his enjoyment of being. Criterion for this existential extent is correspondence with revealed-rational principles missing in virtue ethics. On the other hand, Sadra’s view of these rules and principles originated from the realm of existence does not confine his ethics to act-based one. Using descriptive analytic method the present paper attempts to show common aspects of virtue ethics and deontology-oriented and distinguish Sadra’s ethics from other views which focuses on moral pattern or velaya-based ethics
